Prompt: “Just hands”

“This prompt made me think of the Cave of Hands in Argentina. It is a cave whose walls are covered in spray painted stencils of human hands, likely of hunter-gatherers, dating back as far as 7,300 BC. I wanted to create my own small homage to the cave.”

Cave of Hands

“I see pictures of it and immediately think of children's arts and crafts. Hand turkeys and making hand prints in blocks of clay. I think about when we were kids, my brother and I painted dinner plates with finger printed bumble bees and how my mom still proudly displays them.

I see the Cave of Hands and notice some prints go up 10 feet meaning people were getting on each other's shoulders to take part in a tradition that lasted for thousands of years.

I think about how much AI struggles to depict hands, but how our hands have always been tools and symbolism of creation.”
