DAY 29/31:

Prompt: “The last show you saw”

Sunna Mbye

“The last show you saw". It was an art show called Glimpses of Paradise featuring paintings of flowers from the 1600th to 1800th hundreds. The poem depicts my emotions walking through the darkened rooms full of huge, maximalist and colourful paintings of still life. A cool thing I Iearned was that if you were a woman artist at the time, painting flowers was almost the only way you could become respected in the field - and not be banned by the church as a witch or something. So a lot of the flower painting women were actually rich celebrities. The picture on the right is a favorite painting of mine from that collection with my own twist on it.
